New York City Prosecutes Cybercrime Aggressively

Cybercrime involves constantly evolving levels of sophistication, but New York City police and prosecutors are some of the best equipped in the country to find and prosecute even the savviest cybercriminals.

In 2016, New York City opened a $10 million, first-of-its-kind cybercrime lab specifically to aid in the prosecution of computer-related offenses. Operated by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, the lab has over 75 full-time staff members, including assistant district attorneys assigned to the D.A.’s Cybercrime and Identity Theft Bureau and High Technology Analysis Unit. Additionally, NYPD investigators embedded within the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, and multiple teams of cyber intelligence analysts, forensic analysts and cell site analysts are working 24/7 to hunt down cybercriminals.
